Chris Carpenter gets First Rehab Assignment
July 21st, 2008

Almost an year after undergoing a Tommy John elbow ligament replacement surgery, Cardinals SP Chris Carpenter made his first rehab start for Double-A Springfield on Sunday. Carpenter pitched four scoreless innings, giving up just one hit. He struggled a little with his command, however, as he walked four. His fastball topped out at 92 mph and his breaking pitches had some good movements. St. Louis Cardinal fans are very excited about the return of Carpenter who has given them nothing but dominant pitching when healthy. Even more exciting is the chase for the NL Central, as fans are eager to get their hands on all St. Louis Cardinals tickets whether they are at home or away. The Phillies welcome the Milwaukee Brewers for a huge three game series starting on Tuesday.
