Cleveland takes 2-1 lead in ALCS

October 16th, 2007

Starter Jake Westbrook pitched into the 7th inning Monday night and stopped the Red Sox, steering Cleveland to a 4-2 victory in Game 3 of the ALCS.

With Westbrook giving the Indians everything that Matsuzaka did not give Boston on Monday, Cleveland grabbed the upper hand, taking a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven American League Championship Series. Boston was intimidating in winning the opener, but Cleveland won a draining 11-inning Game 2 and seemed the fresher team for Game 3 held at Jacobs Field.

Of the twenty outs that Jake Westbrook recorded, only 3 came on balls hit to the outfield. The player ended 3 innings with double play grounders, one with the bases loaded in the 2nd.
