John Smoltz to play for Atlanta Braves

The 41 year old veteran and former Atlanta Braves player John Smoltz will return to play for the Braves as a reliever in an attempt to extend his baseball career. The right hander Phil Stockman had to be shifted to Triple-A Richmond in order to allot space for Smoltz in the Braves roster. Smoltz previous stint with the Braves was from 2001-04 when he made 154 saves as a closer. He has started in most of his career games and his die hard fans will be rushing to the ticket counters to book tickets to watch him play for the Braves in the four game series against Florida Marlins. John Smoltz will be pitching with a different arm angle after a rehabilitation program.

Atlanta Braves reach tentative deal

Atlanta Braves reached a tentative deal to acquire the oft-injured Kotsay from the Oakland Athletics for reliever Joey Devine. The trade is contingent on Kotsay passing a physical and the commissioner’s office approving the money involved in the deal. Kotsay hit .214 with one homer and 20 RBIs in 56 games last year. He is a career .282 hitter in 11 seasons in the majors.
He had surgery last spring and missed the first two months of the season unfortunately.
