Mariano Rivera and His Attitude to Drug Use in the Game

Mariano Rivera is one of those people who is not indifferent to baseball. He tries to stay away from everything connected with the use of performance-enhancing drugs in the game. Therefore he was not that much interested in the last week’s report from the former Senator George J. Mitchell. To prevent such things Rivera prefers to counsel teammates and speak up in meetings, but he prepares on his own and keeps things simple.

Danny Haren Or Joe Blanton?

The New York Mets seek starting rotation help out West in the form of Joe Blanton or Danny Haren. Given the New York Mets tried to get Joe Blanton last season for a package of Aaron Heilman and Lastings Milledge, it seems quite logical. The price may turn out to be higher as each of them has logged more service time, but it still seems like a good fit. Danny Haren’s price may be higher than Joe Blanton’s, and the latter may require more than Heilman and Milledge

The League Signs Off on Alex Rodriguez’s Bonuses

ARodThe details of A-Rod’s revenue-sharing bonuses in his new New York deal finally have been agreed upon and approved by the MLB. If A-Rod attains all 5 of the $6-million bonuses, his total offer will be worth $305 million. The draft contract was agreed upon a couple of weeks ago with a base of ten years and $275 million. The bonuses were the most difficult points to agree upon, as the New York Yankees don’t typically include incentives for awards such as MVP or Gold Glove, and the baseball league doesn’t typically allow statistics-based bonuses.
