Hudson departed after throwing only 68 pitches because of his injury. He blamed the tender elbow on the eight to 10 splitters he threw and said he expects to make his next start as scheduled. Almost an year after undergoing a Tommy John elbow ligament replacement surgery, Cardinals SP Chris Carpenter made his first rehab start for Double-A Springfield on Sunday. Carpenter pitched four scoreless innings, giving up just one hit. He struggled a little with his command, however, as he walked four. His fastball topped out at 92 mph and his breaking pitches had some good movements. St. Louis Cardinal fans are very excited about the return of Carpenter who has given them nothing but dominant pitching when healthy. Even more exciting is the chase for the NL Central, as fans are eager to get their hands on all St. Louis Cardinals tickets whether they are at home or away. Takashi Saito, the Dodgers closer, complained of tightness in his right elbow during the game on Saturday against the Marlins in the 9th. After an MRI on Monday, it has been revealed that he is suffering from a sprained elbow ligament, and will need to spend six weeks in rehab to avoid surgery. The good news is that Saito will not need a surgery unless something goes wrong in rehab. Fans with tickets for the Dodgers games do not need to be worried however as Jonathan Broxton is slated to replace Saito.

Sabathia wins in debut for Brewers

Sabathia came over from a trade with the Cleveland Indians on Monday where he was 7-8 with an ERA of 3.79 and had 128 strikeouts in 128.1 innings pitched. The former Cleveland ace will be switched from the last place Indians to a Milwaukee Brewers team that is in the NL Central and in the hunt for a pennant.

It was Joe Mauer’s home run in the eighth inning that sealed the victory for the Twins in a close encounter. The Minneapolis crowd greeted their team with rapturous applause and the enthusiasm in the home crowd was transferred into the game of the Twins players. The Minnesota Twins have gone one up in the three game series against the Brewers and are hoping to seal the series in the next game.
